The Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department was established in the year 1979 with an intake of 20. The intake was increased to 30 in the year 1981 and subsequently to 60, 120 and 180 in the years 1987, 2007 and 2017 respectively. The Post Graduate programme with specialization of power systems was started in the year 2010 with intake of 18
The B.Tech Programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offered by the Department has been accredited by NBA for the fourth time under Tier-I for three years.
The department was recognized as Research centre by JNTUA, Anatapuramu from the year 2015.
The department has MOU (Skill Transfer Programme) with Prime Meiden Ltd (PML) an Indo-Japanese joint venture company of the Prime Group from the year 2017.
The department is selected as Assistant electrician (construction section) skill development training centre through PMKVY by NSDC in the year 2017.
The department received a grant of Rs. 6 Lakhs under MODROBS scheme of AICTE in 2013-14.
The department is monitoring and maintaining 300KW Solar power plant in NBKRIST.
The Department has well qualified faculty with five P.hD’s and Nine faculty are currently pursuing their Ph.D. All the faculty members are post graduates with considerable research and academic experience
Since inception the Department strives for excellence in teaching, research and professional services to the industry so as to achieve eminence in selected niche areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The department has excellent link with leading industries and has a well-connected alumni network. With the advent of Autonomous status, the course pattern has been significantly revised in pace with modern trends and demands of present day. The curriculum is updated from time to time as per the recommendations of the Board of Studies.
The department also has the credit of organizing Workshops, Industrial tours, Internships to the students. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in research publications, short-term courses, FDPs and workshops by the management of the college
Infrastructure facilities include well equipped laboratories such as Electrical Machines laboratory, Power Systems and simulation Laboratory, Circuits and Networks laboratory, Control Systems laboratory, Electrical Measurements laboratory, Power Electronics Laboratory, Electrical workshop and Departmental Library
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is dedicated to the current needs of industry with the flexibility to tune its programmes according to different requirements. Application of new technology in various fields is one of the main focuses in the activities of the department. Develop skilled engineers to meet industry needs and hence develop responsible citizens for our country and society
